Dear MMBC,
I have accepted a new position within the company I currently work for. Unfortunately, the position is out of state, a mere 5-6 hour drive, nonetheless too far for a commute and requires me to relocate. I will be working from CT as well as MD for several months leading up to a permanent move.
Fortunately, it isn't that far, so I will not be leaving the club, nor am I looking to go Associate. I plan on completely enjoying MMBC and utilizing my boat as much as possible during the lead-up, as well as, attending mandatory meetings, work parties, weekends, vacations and Me time with the family once the relocation is complete.
With that said, in an honest attempt to keep the compass pointed North and the club sailing smoothly during the busy startup of the 25-26 season, I will not be stepping down until the June meeting. I truly intend to participate, however, If I cannot fully participate Article III, Section 3l states, the Vice Commodore Shall: In the Commodore's absence, act in his behalf.
Furthermore, if I should not be able to participate as much as anticipated until June Jordan Napalitano has agreed to Assist Dave Ordway in the Vice Commodore role, adding one more layer of expertise and experience to a Great Executive board that is already in place.
Why June? Because I will still be around and.....
1 . It provides MMBC a chance to form a committee exploring interest from members who may want to run for office(s).
2 . It will allow plenty of notice to all members so everyone who wants to vote can plan to be in attendance.
3 . It alleviates the loophole of a small percentage of membership padding a generally lesser attended meeting from the possibility of enacting Article Ill section 3F to fill the position on the spot. If I was to abruptly resign at an earlier scheduled meeting. This is a very real scenario. Essentially anyone chosen by a small group, at that time, could be voted in a s Commodore with as few a s 15 voting members in attendance. This would not be fair to the overall membership or in the spirit of "Good of the Club".
Article III section 3F: Any vacancies occurring may be filled at the time by a special election.
Article Ill section 3F will be implemented at the June Meeting, when vacated with an informed
and prepared membership.
Thank you for your continued support,
Christopher DuTremble
