March 28th, 2011 – first ride of the season checking out the trails on the side of Equinox. Early season riding requires either frozen ground or dried out trails. Slogging through the soft thawed mud will only degrade the trail so it is better to wait for a below freezing morning or a dry trail. On today’s ride we found hard packed snow, some dry surface and some areas that were too wet and we avoided. Last year the trails were dried out almost two weeks prior. What a winter.
